LSR Overmolding Machines

LSR Overmolding Machines for Silicone Component Manufacture

Fixed 1:1 ratio metering, mixing and molding - from benchtop development to production scale.

Our LSR machine platform pairs precision metering and mixing with a dedicated molding press, so silicone component manufacturers can move from formulation testing to production without changing suppliers. Choose the Benchtop Meter/Mix for R&D and low-volume runs, the Production Meter/Mix for full-scale 2-component dispensing, or the 8-Ton Molding Press for fast-cycle, cleanroom-ready molding. Available in industrial and medical grades. Every LSR overmolded part - from silicone-tipped connectors to medical device components - comes off the same qualified overmolding machine, so validated formulations move from benchtop to production without re-qualification.

The Platform

How the LSR Machine Platform Works

Liquid silicone rubber ships as two components that must be metered at a fixed ratio, mixed without introducing air, and delivered at controlled pressure into a mold or dispense point. Our meter/mix systems handle that ratio control and mixing pneumatically, with no electrical utilities required beyond standard shop air.

The 8-Ton LSR Molding Press pairs with either meter/mix system to close, heat and cure the mold on a fixed cycle. It is a pneumatic heated-platen press with no injection unit, built for fast-cycle silicone and polymer overmolding rather than high-pressure injection work.

Because the benchtop and production systems share the same 1:1 fixed-ratio metering principle, formulations and process parameters developed on the bench carry forward directly to production scale.

This is the metering system silicone manufacturers specify when formulations must scale without re-validation - straightforward lsr molding equipment with no proprietary consumables or specialized utilities beyond shop air.

FAQ

LSR Overmolding Machine FAQ

What is LSR (liquid silicone rubber)?

Liquid silicone rubber is a two-part, platinum-cured silicone that ships as separate A and B components, mixed at a fixed ratio (typically 1:1) immediately before molding or dispensing. It cures with heat into a durable, biocompatible elastomer, which is why it's widely used for medical device components, seals and connectors that need to bond directly to rigid plastics or tubing.

What's the difference between the benchtop and production meter/mix systems?

Both use the same fixed 1:1 ratio. The benchtop system is cartridge-fed for development and low-volume runs, up to 50 cc/stroke. The production system is pail-fed for continuous runs, up to 600 cc/min.

Does the 8-Ton Molding Press include an injection unit?

No. The MB-8 is a pneumatic heated-platen press with no hydraulics and no injection unit.

Can I get industrial and medical grade equipment?

Yes, both meter/mix systems are available in industrial and medical grades.

Can you overmold connectors and custom parts?

Yes. The platform is built for connector overmolding and custom silicone components - tubing fittings, Y and T connectors, hubs and other custom geometries - metered and mixed on the benchtop or production system and molded on the 8-Ton Press. Send us your part geometry and application and we'll recommend the right machine configuration.

What utilities do these machines require?

All three run on standard shop air. The press requires a 100 psi air supply.

Can formulations developed on the benchtop system scale directly to production?

Yes. Both systems share the same fixed 1:1 ratio metering principle, so process parameters carry forward.

What is the clamping force and cycle speed of the press?

8 tons of clamping force, a 1 in./sec clamp speed and a 6 in. stroke.

Do I need to buy all three machines?

No. Each is sold and specified independently. Most customers pair one meter/mix system with the molding press.

Is documentation available for qualification?

Yes. Request full specifications using the datasheet button above.
