How the 8-Ton LSR Molding Press Works
The MB-8 is a silicone molding machine built around a pneumatic heated-platen press, not an adapted injection unit. Clamping force is generated pneumatically at 100 psi, closing the platens with 8 tons of force in as little as one second per inch of stroke. Heated platens hold a consistent cure temperature across the full 6-inch stroke, so parts cure evenly from the first shot to the last.
Because this molding press has no hydraulics and no injection unit, there's less to maintain and a simpler qualification package for cleanroom environments. MonoBiologics manufactures the MB-8 in-house as part of a complete LSR metering, mixing and molding platform — pair this silicone molding machine with the Benchtop or Production LSR Metering & Mixing System for a complete molding cell, from metering and mixing through to a finished, cured part.
